Dental crowns

DENTAL CROWNS

Dental crowns are restorations made of ceramic that completely cap or cover a tooth or dental implant, unlike veneers that only cover part of the tooth. They have a similar color and appearance to your own teeth. Crowns help restore badly damaged teeth as well as improving their appearance and preventing future damage. They are recommended for the following reasons:

To strengthen a tooth that has one large filling or several fillings

To restore a tooth after a root canal

To protect a tooth that might fracture or crack

To replace a missing tooth fixed to a dental implant

To help improve shape and appearance of a tooth

Crowning a tooth is two-step process. We must first take a dental impression (mold) of the tooth that we then send to a laboratory to make sure the crown fits perfectly. While waiting for the laboratory to make your crown, we place a temporary crown. This temporary crown is more fragile than your permanent crown. You must be careful eating to not damage or remove it. During your second appointment we will cement or bond your permanent crown which is more resistant, durable and as well more comfortable.
