Dental veneers

DENTAL VENEERS

Dental veneers, sometimes called porcelain or ceramic veneers, are great for improving your smile. They are able to hide a stained or a discolored tooth when bleaching hasn’t helped. Veneers can be used when tooth enamel has been damaged, to close spaces between teeth.or simply to improve the appearance of teeth.

Veneers are made of a thin layer of porcelain or composite resin and are attached to the front part of your teeth. These are the two kinds of veneers that exist.

Composite Veneers

Composite veneers are made from composite resin and placed over the front part of the tooth during the same appointment. The resin is sculpted layer by layer by your dentist. This then hardens with a curing light. This option is the cheapest from a short-term perspective. Composite veneers may stain with coffee, red wine and cigarettes and have a limited lifespan.

Porcelain or Ceramic Veneers.

Porcelain veneers are not made during your visit. Porcelain veneers last longer than composite veneers.

An impression of your teeth is made and sent to a laboratory that will make it. Two appointments are necessary for this technique. After the impressions, we place temporary veneers. During the second appointment we bond the permanent veneers to your teeth. Temporary veneers are fragile and you must chew your food more carefully than usual.

Veneers do affect your natural teeth. Various amounts of enamel need to be shaved off the tooth. For this reasons other treatments must be considered first such as bleaching and/or orthodontics.
